i keep getting this when i try to use ne of the nickserve options including identify, and yes im on a dalnet server

the other thing is that while i was trying to solve this problem i thought that uninstalling and reinstalling would help but now all that left me was with an unregistered copy of mIRC when i had a registered one, how can i provide it with my registration info, is it just the nick or the program

and if it is threw nickserv i would need that first obvi

im rambling ive been at this for a while could use ne help possible crazy

if this helps im using mIRC 6.03 and as a script polaris 2.05d

thankx

Make sure you use /msg NickServ@services.dal.net or /NickServ or /ns

For DALnet you MUST use one of these 3 formats:
 • /NickServ identify yourpassword or /ChanServ IDENTIFY #ChanName yourpassword
 • /NS identify yourpassword or /CS IDENTIFY #ChanName yourpassword
 • /msg NickServ@services.dal.net identify yourpassword or /msg ChanServ@services.dal.net identify #ChanName yourpassword

An alternate format is: /identify yourpassword (to identify your nickname on DALnet)

If you want to use /msg you have to use the full hostmask - this makes sure the services are addressd correctly. This may change on other networks so i suggest to read the help information on those particular services commands very carefully.

IMORTANT: Always type your commands which contains your password in the Status Window - this makes sure that no one sees your password in case you have a typo - like the missing / etc.

DALnet: #HelpDesk, #mIRC, #MISHScript - Undernet: #mIRC, #mIRC-Scripts

Registering nicks on a network is different from registering mIRC. Dig out the copy of the email from Khaled with your mIRC registration number and how to input it. In the event you didnt keep a copy of it in a safe place (tsk tsk) go to http://www.mirc.com/reglost.html

re your nickserv prob, if using the exact format, on the network you registered your nick on, doesnt work, i would try getting rid of the script you are using and see if that solves the prob... have seen a lot of users with probs from that one.

/NS identify yourpassword & /identify yourpassword
when i use these it tells me:
(error) NickServ Services is currently down. Please wait a few moments, and then try again.

problem is that its been a hell of a lot longer than a few moments thats why im wondering if there is something wrong with the serveror nickserv etc

for the other ways of messanging nickserv again i get:
(error) No such nick/channel: nickserv@services.dal.net

what da ya think

services go down.. it happens, be patient. doesnt help when they come back up for ppl to flood them with stuff either. when they go down, we dont know why or for how long... stick nickserv on your notify and you can see when they are up.

they could be down for any number of reasons.. those reasons i imagine effect for how long

Yep, even the fact that NickServ has to send thousands of notices asking all users to reidentify, then Guesting all nicks that don't comply, whilst accepting identification from other users in itself could cause another crash. Webmaster's has changed CR to embed Services in the IRCd itself which effectively makes Services crashes a thing of the past, though I don't know how new this idea is. If it turns out to be reliable it might be something that other IRCd coders might want to consider.
