Since this new menu, I'm not longer able to view the invites, or or the excepts list. The buttons don't highlight anymore, I can't click on them.

What network is this on? If the network does not properly respond with the right data in the 005 reply then mIRC will think the network does not support excepts/etc. If they're not showing up, they are either not supported *or* the network is not properly configured.
