mIRC stores very little in the actual registry, this is part of the reason people can run mIRC from a thumb/USB drive with the -portable switch. This switch prevents any usage of the registry keys, so there is no registry information stored on the computer by mIRC. Everything is stored in the various ini files that come with mIRC. These files, in turn, should not be altered from without mIRC, unless you know exactly what you are doing, as altering them can cause mIRC to fail. Altering the settings that are stored in those files through mIRC is the correct way, and, therefore there's no need to reload that information.

Read his whole post. There is nothing stored in the registry by mIRC when the -portable command line option is used - this is true.

If there is already information stored in the registry before using the -portable switch, I don't think it will be removed.

The few registry items (when not using -portable) aren't really very important as far as "loading" them. The only things that you are really going to need/use are mIRC's settings, which are stored in mIRC.ini and other similar files... NOT the registry.
If you think there is a registry item that you need to have access to in some way, explain which one and why and maybe someone can help you. I really doubt there is, though.

The answer is no.
Everyone here is off the marker. He's not asking about not using the registry to load settings, he's asking how to reload the settings from the registry without restarting mIRC, similar to reloading settings from mirc.ini without restarting mIRC.
There is no way to do this-- mIRC only loads the settings at startup. This goes the same for mirc.ini-- so it's not a question of registry or not. If you need to change any settings you have to do it from within mIRC.

According to the OP's first post is there anyway to make mirc update its settings from the regkeys without restarting the application? The reference to the registry is directly mentioned. There is no mention about mIRC's ini files.
