When I connect, I get a message that says"You match the pattern of a known trojan, please check your system......". This is a brand new laptop running Windows vista ultimate and I have several anti virus programs running. There are no trojans on my system.

I connect using a sprint nationwide data card and I have no issues connecting to any website or chat program except MIRC. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Ed

Ignore the message and try another server/network... there's a good chance it's simply wrong.

There should've been further information in that message indicating where you should go to send a message to the network operators that your system has been checked and confirmed as clean, and/or something indicating how long you have to wait before you can try connecting to that network again.

Possibly (heck, probably), your host IP address has matched a known trojan spreader, and you've gotten hit by this.

I've seen this happen to others, including myself.

What this often means is that your nick and/or ident look suspicious. Many networks have certain patterns for nicks and idents that they automatically ban because trojans/bots/etc use them to spam or infect others. For example, an ident of "dfghj" can get you banned from certain networks. And, although not automatically banned by the network, Undernet is filled with porn bots posing as a female's first name followed by two numbers, such as "Mary14". Other networks might automatically ban something like that if it became as much of an issue as it is on Undernet. On Undernet, many channels just ban those users themselves since Undernet doesn't.

So... try changing your nick and/or your ident. Alt-O > Connect > Identd for changing the ident. Note that if you have the checkbox enabled for using e-mail as ident, you'll need to either uncheck that box and fill in what you want there for your ident, or go and change the first part of your e-mail in mIRC (the part before the @).

Nope, the only thing that was there that I didn't post was to check my system and it gave me 2 web sites to go to for sytem cleaners. It provided no contact info at all, otherwise I would have written them first before coming here.

Thanks I'll keep trying

In that case, and if you already tried what I suggested, use google to find the website for that network and look for contact information on their site.
