I'm just wondering if anyone has had experience running mIRC through Windows XP using the Intel Core Duo Mac's Boot Camp program? Is there anything to be wary of? I'm torn between a mac or windows pc and being able to run Windows to use mIRC would be amazing.

running windows under bootcamp on a mac *is* running windows. It's the exact same hardware you would otherwise use on a pc, so there's absolutely no difference. This goes for any program you may run.

That said, I wouldnt boot into windows just to run mIRC if I had OSX ready to go!

I've looked for a good IRC program for macs and I don't think they exist. No freeware at least. Do you recommend any programs?

Nope. There's XChat and Chatzilla as far as cross platform clients go, and there are plenty of UNIX based clients like ircii, etc., but I can't use any of them. I don't think you should define your OS by your IRC client though... I'm sure you can find something decent as a compromise.

I use X-Chat Aqua (www.sourceforge.net/projects/xchataqua/) on my Mac and it is fine or you could use mIRC in boot camp but yer you should try x-chat first

"KVIrc started as an alternative IRC client for KDE under GNU/Linux by Szymon Stefanek. The project has undergone major re-writes in its history and is now available on Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. It is licensed under the GPL. It supports simultaneous connections to multiple servers, SSL connections to servers, UTF-8, IPv6, as well as the SDCC protocol. It also has many scripting abilities, and is very easy to configure."
