This is what happens: * Connecting to irc.rizon.net (6665) - Please wait while we process your connection. - -irc.xstaticsolutions.com- * Looking up your hostname... - -irc.xstaticsolutions.com- * Checking Ident - * Identd request from 66.111.37.204 * Identd replied: 1597, 6665 : USERID : identd : ******** - * [10053] Software caused connection abort It will just sit there for ten minutes, then give the [10053] error. I've tried disabling identd, and changing my userid, but nothing worked. Can anyone help me PLEASE?

RusselB Hoopy frood R Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 7,252 Ontario, Canada	Prepare to do a lot of reading, then read this sticky. It's not 100%, but there are a number of solutions that people have found that work for this error.

I skimmed it - but my problem is not that I'm not connecting - I am, and quite immediately. The problem is clearly some kind of issue with identd that just started happening for no reason. i also installed hydraIRC and tried that, same problem as well. So somehow my computer got messed up and it is affecting any attempt I make to get into IRC. With this in mind, can anyone suggest anything, short of reinstalling Windows?
