I'm fairly new to mIRC so this may seem an obvious question - but any help is very welcomed.

I'm on 600K cable and so too is my friend. When we get files from IRC channels we generally download at speeds of 60kps.

The problem I have is when I send my friend a file its very very slow rate - maximum 10kps.

mIRC is the only active application online at the time, packet size is 4096, fast send & fill spaces are also ticked.

Why is this?? What can I do to speed up the file send??

Please help,, thanks.

Some ISPs have fast download speed but only slow upload, that might be the problem.

Welcome to mIRC smile

Just so you know, mIRC is a text chatting piece of software. If you're using mIRC as a file sharing device to just find files, you're in the wrong area. mIRC is probably one of the least effective methods of transferring files.

At any rate, You are always limited in 'speed' by the slower connection. You could be on a T3, but you're only going to be able to send files as fast as the person on a 56k dial up can get them. You're also limited further if the other user is getting other files.
