Mirc needs revivification!
My idea... people with skype installed - mirc senses when skype client is in 'skypeme' mode and makes it possible to connect a skype call with another mirc user(also in skypeme mode - it shows in mirc) through the click of a button in mirc. The persons nickname is highlighted then it shows if they are in skypeme mode in the form of a functioning 'call on skype button'.
Other options include conferencing with mirc users through the skype client by the use of 'invite to conference button' in mirc.
This idea would require some kind of monitoring of the skype client and 2 buttons to be created in mirc to connect calls. Also;- some way of relaying skype status to other mirc clients through the mirc network would need to be figured out... how it's done? i don't know.. but I think it would be cool.

Another possibility for this idea is that the 'call on skype' option could be included in the popup menu which arises when you right click on the users nickname in the nicks list. This turns mirc into a visual catalog of communication... it requires no major changes to mirc but adds the functionality of skypes voice and video communication systems to the mirc client. Companies and internet users would find this added functionality useful. Also skype users would gain the benefits of a text interface for chat in chat rooms(which skype lacks).

That is not something that should be in mIRC as relatively few people use it that way. It might be a good script idea, but not as a mIRC feature.

Yes. thanks for your input. The idea is simple.. right click a nickname to make a skype call if they are in skypeme mode.
And i think it should be a standard feature of mirc so that everyone can easilly take advantage.

It still is not useful to the majority of users. It's fine as a script suggestion, but not as a mIRC feature.

? - as long as you can read it, why does it matter.. and this is a forum.. not English class You're assuming that people can, infact, understand what you say. Often your posts are fragmented, with unqualified " this" or "thats". Other times they are incoherent, nonsensical, or just plain wrong. Bear in mind that this is coming from a native English speaker. Many users of these forums are not native English speakers, and they'll have even more trouble understanding you than I do.

and perhaps you should too, which i think is the problem, because it seems when people tell you that you're being completely incoherent on multiple occasions it doesn't raise any warning flags.

Yes, thanks everyone for replying. I had anticipated that there would be some level of disinterest in actually discussing my topic... and apparently the subject degraded into a discussion of text speak vs correct english. Mirc would be really cool if you could use it to call mirc users through the skype client. Mirc could even come bundled with skype as a download... your thoughts;-

We already discussed this. There's really very little left to say on the subject, which is likely why the thread turned off topic. Skype's protocol is proprietary btw, which would mean mIRC would need to get permission to license it, which I highly doubt would ever happen. Video chat in general has been requested several times, and there are publicly available DLLs that do this such as ByteCam, so perhaps Khaled will do something similar, but there isn't all that much *real* interest from the community, especially since people use IRC specificially because it is text-based. If someone needed a video alternative, they would use it-- IRC is not that medium, and everyone using IRC knows that. The conclusion seems to be that it is not likely to happen, but we'll all see what Khaled decides.

lol, one person supporting the idea will not get it bundled with another program that has nothing to do with IRC. its not going to happen

sorry i dont spend 5 hours to try and perfect my message so ppl dont bitch about it That's fine, since I don't know anyone who does that. perhaps you should worry about yourself Let's assume for a minute, that by default, everyone worries about themself. This could mean that at any time, that we are thirsty, we would try to do something to not feel thirsty. So your request could also be redundant if my assumption were correct. But suppose your argument was that he should only worry about himself. I would tell you that is useless: what's wrong with worrying about others? By the way, suppose for example you said that as a defense mechanism. The fact that Collective might worry about you, wouldn't justify that you have to defend yourself by attacking. So there is nothing wrong with other people worrying about you (or in this particular case, worrying about your grammar). But why people may take offense to that could be beyond me.
