I've used both 6.2 and 6.31 both of which I downloaded from this site, yet when using kapersky's online virus scan, I get this:

C:\downloads\mirc62.exe NSIS: infected
C:\downloads\mirc631.exe NSIS: infected
C:\downloads\mirc631.exe/stream/data0001/stream Infected: not-a-virus:Client-IRC.Win32.mIRC.631
C:\downloads\mirc631.exe/stream/data0001 Infected: not-a-virus:Client-IRC.Win32.mIRC.631

my norton internet security has never given me a flag on either, although every single time I open mirc my norton's goes crazy scanning it and basicly locks up my pc for several minutes. Anybody have a clue what the problem is here? tia

The files that kapersky is flagging in my C:\downloads folder are the files that were downloaded, not the installed files obviously.

So you just downloaded mIRC and Kaspersky is bugging you for that?

What about when you install mIRC - does it still detect problems with mIRC?

Anyways, I can't quite remember if Norton gave me problems with mIRC everytime I opened it. I'm 100% sure that it doesn't lock my computer up for a few minutes though.

Usually, there's an option for the virus-killing programs to ignore the particular program in question so you won't have to go through it the 2nd and 3rd time you open mIRC.

Here's a link from a related topic that I found using the Search option Kapersky Forum

If you want to read the topic, you can find it here

ok... guess I'm satisfied with that. new question,I had uninstalled 6.31 so I downloaded it again and installed it. I had copied my alias.ini, mirc.ini, popups.ini etc. in order to have them if I decided to reinstall. So after reinstalling I copied those files to the default and scripts folders but when i fire up mirc it just gives me the settings that a new install would give me. I tried the "load" option from inside the script editor window but it doesnt change anything from the defaults. How do I get it to look/work like it did before I uninstalled the program? Thanks

Nevermind, I found that if you put the ini's in the same folder with mirc.exe it works fine and uses all those settings.
