Hi, I had the same problem as SweetCherie. and I did the routine of scanning and found out that the PC was indeed infected with trojan. It was deleted from my system. Unfortunately I was still unable to enter MIRC server. DId I miss out anything? Please advise. thanks Agnes

If you were kicked for a virus/trojan, the ban will stay on for 24-72 hours usually, even if you remove the virus/trojan.

thanks for the reply.
I did get "unbanned" after 24 hours. However, I was kicked out again on several occasions with the same problem (poison drone). I have updated my virus scan and scanned my system several times and it was not able to locate any virus. Not sure why the server ban me again....
I tried to uninstall my MIRC, but was not able to do so. I recieved pop-ups indicating that the MIRC program was running in the background even though I did not open the application. please assist. thanks mucho

Still sounds like you're infected, mIRC does not run itself, nor does it run in the background after you've closed it.
Scan with more than one virus scanner, no ONE detects all variants of all viruses.
If you're sure you're not infected, it's got nothing to do with mIRC, it's the poor method of the IRC network to detect infected drones, so contact the network that you're getting banned from.

Mentality/Chris

Please do not use the 'Notify Moderator' button to get attention to your post, moderators are not the only ones that can answer your posts and it doesn't get you answered any faster.
The message you're seeing means you've been banned from the network for spamming (unsolicited advertising). You may have been doing it accidentally if you're infected with an "mIRC virus", or the ban may be placed on your entire ISP and so isn't aimed at you directly but is affecting you anyway.
The only thing you can do is wait until October 6th 2007 or contact the network's IRC Operators for assistance. It has nothing to do with mIRC, you would get the same result using any IRC client. Check out the network's website for contact details. Alternatively, use another network altogether.
G'luck.

Mentality/Chris

sorry mentality, it is the first time i'm using this item and believed that calling for your attention was the correct thing to do.
Should i contact the operator of that specific server?

Contact the network. Usually you can find the website for the network by just replacing irc. with www. If not, you can try googling for it.
On the website, you should find some form of contact information. Use that and ask them about the ban (provide your dns/ip information). Maybe they will remove it.

Wah! I don't understand why this won't work! I 'm currently in college right now and I've check with the tech support here. They told me that there isn't any programs blocked at this school. However, I still can't connet to mIRC. I could connect when I was at home so I don't know what's going on.

I don't know why it's suddenly become a fashion, but please stop using the Notify Moderator button to get attention to your post. It's there to report ABUSIVE posts, not to get people to answer you.
Judging from your other post, I'd say your IT dept. is wrong, and has no idea what IRC is, and actually they DO have something blocking IRC. It's quite possibly not intentionally blocking IRC (which is why they may think there's nothing that would be), but the coincidence that you can connect at home but not at college would indicate such a situation. We can't really help you with that.

They told me that there isn't any programs blocked at this school. There probably aren't any specific programs blocked. Now ask them if there are any specific ports blocked (like 6660-7000)

I keep getting the message:
* Unable to connect to server (Software caused connection abort)
whenever I try to connect. Anyone know a fix for this?

Check for blocked ports on any router/firewall that you have running. Also, try other networks. There are some good posts about firewalls and routers that you should look through. Just use the Search feature and set it to 1 year or longer.

Which probably means it's a firewall problem. The firewall probably was set to allow the previous install, but is blocking the current install. The quick way to determine if that is true would be to temporarily disable the firewall and try. Of course, some firewall software doesn't like to be disabled and can still cause problems, but it would give you an idea.

I turned off my firewall and it still does not work. I still get the same message, and I don't use a router.

1) Use another network. 2) Contact the network (see the kill message or go to their website to get contact information). 3) Wait from a few hours to a few months until the ban is automatically removed.

Im normally good at computers, but this is a tricky one.
It says my connection is being refused and you guys tell me to use different servers or ports. How do you change ports or servers?
