I am unable to trim a log file to under 100KB. Is there a way to lower the trim limit to 1KB?

Everytime I try to enter in a value lower than 100KB it always defaults back to 100KB.

any assistance would be greatly appreciated smile

1k? for a log file? That's maybe 2 long lines.

What sort of a log file is that?

I'm going to assume that 100KB is the minimum log file size to trim to as anything smaller is, simply put, not a log file.

The default window buffer is bigger.

If you want such a rediculoulsy small log file, then you may as well turn logging off.

They might want to use it with the "Reload logs" option so that mIRC loads just the last couple of lines from the previous conversation.

To the original poster:
There's no way to do it using mIRC's built-in logging function as far as I know. You might want to post this in the Feature Suggestions forum.

If you're trying to get reload logs working for N lines instead of the entir 100kb limit, just use /loadbuf manually on join

/help /loadbuf

True. But then that requires the user to know some scripting (albeit a trivial one-line script).

In any case it would be simpler if mIRC didn't have the limit and just let the user set it to 1KB.

but as bekar said, "1kb" makes little sense for a log size limit... the "session start" and topic lines already take up half of the limit.

But it would still allow the OP to do what they want (assuming that is what they want) without having to script it, at no "cost" to mIRC.

I'd have to agree. I don't see a point in trimming a log that small (I don't even trim them), but someone may have a need for it and even if 1k is rediculously small, 20k isn't. Why force a limit? It doesn't really help anyone as far as I can see and may hinder a few who want it smaller. Normally, I wouldn't cater to such a small number of users, but because it wouldn't be a difficult change and wouldn't affect everyone else, there's no reason not to.
