I keep on getting the following message:

"* Unable to connect to server (Connection refused)

* Connect retry #44 eu.undernet.org (6667) (dns pool)"

This started happening yesterday. I have tried a number of servers and different PCs. I have also installed mIRC afresh.

Can somebody please help me?

There are several UnderNet EU servers in the servers list, try them.

Sounds like it may be a firewall or router issue. Have you changed anything in those and/or updated the firewall software?

Which is what makes me think of a firewall auto-updating itself. I've seen it happen before and then you get those errors. And some firewall softwares (Norton, for example) don't turn off as easily as you think... just disabling it may not actually prevent it from doing things. Anyhow, it's up to you if you want to look into it further. If a reinstall doesn't fix the problem in that directory, then there is really no other reason than some Antivirus, Firewall, or Router problem since you can run a different mIRC on the same computer without a problem.

Thank you. I do not use a software firewall. I cannot run a different mIRC on the same computer. If I could, it would not be a problem. I installed mIRC on 2 PCs and it is not working on either.

Have you tried a network other than UnderNet? It's possible, though perhaps not likely, that your IP has been blocked from the entire network.

Given that both computers exhibit the same symptoms it is likely to be a router/ADSL modem issue. In that case resetting those devices to their factory settings would probably resolve the issue. If you haven't yet tried simply turning the device(s) off and on again then try that first.

Finally, some ISPs have been known to block IRC/IRC-related ports, so failing any other ideas you may wish to contact your provider.

Thank you.

I have tried other networks but without success.

Will do, later on today.

Will do, after turining off the router.

i have had the same issue with my own network - and i am the co-owner of it - it seems sometimes port 6667 wont let me on, but if i goto the ssl port +6697 i can get right on with no issues.
