i am using version 5.9 of mirc. when someone does ctcp version to me it auto replies with mIRC32 v5.9 K.Mardam-Bey. I want to remove it to emulate a program that uses irc but required a specific version reply to not be banned from the channel. I know how to do the version reply, but not removing mIRC32 v5.9 K.Mardam-Bey

You cannot remove the version reply in mIRC.

Wouldn't hurt to try a more current version. The worst that could happen would be it still wouldn't work...

It is still not working. I installed version 6.03 even! I type /echo 4 $dll(motfv3.dll,motfv,Load). And it says $dll(motfv3.dll,motfv,Load). Do i need to put it in a special place? Its currently in the root of the mric directory with the other files like mirc.exe and the the ini files.

personally changing the version reply retracts from khaleds right as the software designer to have it advertise HIS hard work ..... just like any script writter hates his work to be ripped ..... id also assume khaled would feel the same way ..... just my liltte two cents

I agree with _d3m0n_, and it also sounds like the sole purpose for you hiding the CTCP version reply is to get around a ban. The ban is there for a purpose, they must not want mIRC users in there. Most likely, you will end up banned by hostname for circumventing the version ban.

If you type that in a window then u need to preceed it by 2 slashes, not 1. If you use 2 slashes then the line gets evaluated (as in the dll-call is actually made). Then the returnvalue of the dll call is echoed in your window.

//echo 4 $dll(motfv3.dll,motfv,Load)

That should work. If not, then there's a error in the dll-call itself.

[edit] Forgot to put the extra slash in myself

As far as I know, there are only two ways of changing your version reply

1. mOTFv DLL (mentioned before)
2. Patching mIRC (Which is illegal, DON'T)

Also I wouldn't recommend the DLL, because it installs a intercept function for the receive() function of sockets. It also will intercept ALL calls, so this might slow your system down.

And anyway, why would you even want to change the version reply?? mIRC is such a great program and it wouldn't hurt to give Khaled some credit.

I haven't scripted for a long time but i was able to change the version ctcp reply in mirc. you just add a ctcp for the version with your message the other user who versions you will get 2 ctcp replies one with mIRC 6.03 and one with your version. you're giving credit where it is due and showing that your using a script also.

yes but an on signal script can be used if u ignore all ctcp and then trigger a ctcpreply thru it to change the entire version reply ... u dont get 2 lines ..... only one ..... the one u change it too ...... ofcourse im not going to tell how ... but it can be doneand if ur good with figureing them out u can ignore all ctcps thru mirc and then setup to use the script to handle all of your ctcp functions like sound requests time ping and so on and so fourth ... that way u dont lose anything and uve changed the version reply ....
