Hello everyone!
Lately, i've found out how to download through IRC and i must say; it kicks ass.
Expect that i get disconnected from my internet 90% of the time.
Everytime when i download something trough DDC i can get a few megabytes, till suddenly my speed drops to 0.00 kbps and my whole internet is..down. After that i must reboot my computer (For i can't enable and disable my internet connections in windows for some reason)
And..it does this for 90% of the files, like i've said.

Strange enough, 2 weeks ago i downloaded a 4 Gigabyte file over IRC and it worked like a charm.

Anyone got idea's? Thanks!
-Edward

After reading this sticky post, you could try lowering your MTU.

http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article04-107

Lowering the MTU to 1492 (default is 1500 I think) has solved
some very annoying disconnection problems for me in the past.

~ Edit ~
Some routers and modems actually have this setting bult-in
which would allow for easier network wide adjustment rather
than changing the MTU setting on each machine Check your
router/modem manual(s).

First off, DCC is not the best way to transfer big files, it was mainly meant for files like text and pictures, a few kilobytes in size at most.
Most files that are bigger than that, movies and music using various extensions, as well as warez, all fall under this boards policy of not assisting with requests/posts regarding illegal downloads, as posted in this sticky

LOL Rock: You beat me by a second.

Anime is still copyrighted and sold, so it's still not legal to download.

Didn't know unlicensed anime was illegal to download.
Thanks for the help anyway.

all anime is illegal to download. fansubs are ignored in regions where no one holds a license yet but still illegal. fansubs are frowned upon in regions where there is a license holder, and fansub groups quit subbing when the anime is licensed in their region (well, the serious big ones at least).

so yes: no matter how you look at it: it's illegal

(yes, laws on downloading differ from country to country but sharing is illegal in most countries, and most 'download' programs share automatically... and NO, mIRC is not a download program)

If it ain't broken, don't fix it!
