A question: does anyone know if mIRC works on Windows Mobile edition? I'd love to buy a little PDA and take my internet addiction on the road.

Some people have reported that it does work, however, others have reported problems. Basically it seems to depend on the hardware being used, rather than the software regarding the functionality of mIRC under the Windows Mobile platform.

It's also worth mentioning that mIRC is not built to work with anything other than the operating systems stated here. Therefore, if coincidentally mIRC does work on another platform, official support cannot be provided for it by Khaled and the chances of getting technical help on these forums is small.

Khaled has said before that support for mIRC on other platforms is not currently in the works, and is unlikely to ever be so. Sorry!

Windows Mobile is not another platform, technically speaking, its a portable version of Windows the OS that mIRC currently operates under, so saying that its another platform is like saying Khaled doesn't give a fuck about Windows users.

Windows Mobile is a distinct platform. Simply because Microsoft market it as "Windows" doesn't make it the same system underneath. It shares much of the same APIs as desktop Windows platforms and maybe mIRC could be made to run on it but it would obviously take a certain amount of work to adapt mIRC's interface to display and function appropriately for mobile hardware. Whether it's worth the effort only Khaled knows, but (correctly) stating that they're different platforms doesn't say anything about whether Khaled cares about Windows users.

Spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and stupid comments are intentional.

....and erm, why pick on the semantics of the post when it ultimately comes down to the same thing? mIRC isn't going to work on Windows Mobile any time soon. Sheesh!
