I have started up my own IRC server using unreal 3.2.6 with SSL, i have set it up correctly without SSL but when i tried to connect to the SSL server on port 6697 i get:

[06:06] * Connecting to irc.myserver.com (6697)
-
[06:06] * [10053] Software caused connection abort
-
[06:06] * Disconnected

So im thinking it was me but then i tried SSL on 2 other networks and i get the same thing. Does mIRC support SSL, if so how do i activate it?

mIRC does support SSL, however, the files for SSL are not included with mIRC. You'll need to download and install them (if you haven't done so already)

If you're using mIRC 6.2, there is a link in the help file under /help SSL Support which will connect you to a location for obtaining the SSL files.

That particular error message has a very long discussion located here

While I have found that using SSL does reduce the number of times that shows up, it does not eliminate it.

In addition to the posts at the previously mentioned thread, did you ensure that the format of your /server line was correct?

The format does change when using SSL.

Read /help /server for details.
