Hey, I have a problem with logging in one IRC server using port 7001. Each time i try to log in, i get this message:
" Unable to connect to server (Connection refused) "
I was able to log in without any problem a while ago, and now, without having installed any software or changed any setting, i'm not. I know the server is working, because i know some people who are still talking in it. Port 7001 is opened in my firewall and router, and i tried with others clients like IceChat, Trillian, XChat...no way i can get in.
Does anyone have any idea of what's going on? Maybe if you know a server using only port 7001 (i looked for it but could find one). I tried with one, but not sure i did it well.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Which server is giving you that problem? Have you tried connecting to that server using a different port? Have you tried connecting to the network using a different server and/or port?

I use the IP to access to the server, the name is digitalrats, but for some reasons i could never access to it using the name. i tried with a different port even though i knew it uses only port 7001. I tried to connect to other servers, every servers i tried worked, except this one.
IP is 216.221.66.144
i live in France, and this server is an american one, maybe that's why it doesnt work, but it used to work, and poof, stopped.

I just tried it from my location in Ontario, Canada, and connected with no problems. If you can connect with another server, as you have said you can, then use another server. There's normally no reason to use one server over another for a particular network.

Most servers on a network interconnect, so that you don't have to be logged in on a specific server in order to chat with others that are on different servers, but still the same network. I suggest you try connecting to a different server, then see if you can join the room that you're wanting. If you can't, or if you notice something is drastically wrong (ie: someone that you know is connected with the server that's causing you trouble and is in the chat room isn't showing in the nicklist), then go to the networks help channel (usually #help) and ask for assistance there.

the biggest problem is that i have no idea what network the server is on. when started IRC someone told me to use "network: all" and type the IP address, i never used any other server since i use IRC only to chat with my teamates. and no matter how long i look for it, i cant find what network the server is on.

By the looks of it there is only the 1 server, however the server name suggests it is in a pool of servers. The only server given from the /links command is irc.digitalrats.net this address resolves to 216.40.33.31 which I cant connect on. So I assume /server 216.221.66.144 7001 is the only way on. As a thought make sure you have ident enabled. OR check to make sure something isnt changing the port back to 6667.
Good luck Fire

I went to log on as I usually do and all of a sudden it's saying I was banned for being an abusive host... : ( Could there be someone else with my nick that has caused a problem? Thanks for any help you can give me... Annie

An abusive host, means that your host address (which you can generate by typing //echo -a $right($address(<your nick>,0),-2) ) has been used by someone else that has abused the network. I have posted a possible solution to your other query, not realizing that it was, realistically, a double posting from here. Please don't double post in the future. Most of us helpers look through all of the categories when trying to help.
