First off I can't resume things that are dcc sent to me. Someone said it has something to do with packets. Does anyone know anything about this. Secondly I have problems staying connected to mirc. I can only stay on for a few minutes then I get disconnected. Can someone help me?

Try using the search option that this messageboard provides:

Your search keyword is: DCC . Search all posts and all forums...this will give you numerous posts relating do DCC maybe your problem lies within one of those posts. I hope this helps.

NAT or ICS are usually to blame when you cant resume, try the search feature using resume or this thread may help

disconnect:
what disconnect error are you getting and what OS are you using? (your friends may see the exact disconnect error msg if you dont)

When I get disconnected I don't get any message. The next time I type something I just get a disconnected warning.

ask your friends what they see as your quit and we may be able to give you some info on it. Let us know the msg, what OS (operating system, like xp,98 etc ) you have, and if it happens mostly when you are dccing.

There are a lot of disconnect errors, each with different meanings. Without knowing the error/reason its impossible for us to even begin to help you. The ppl in a channel with you will see what happens in the quit for you, ask someone to watch and tell you exactly what it says.

that one is hard to figure out, since so many things could cause it. basically its a loss of connection to the remote socket, but i know that doesnt tell you much. do you lose your internet connection completely or just mIRC?
"peer" may cause a flurry of disconnecting you for no obvious reason and then it just stops being annoying. While its possible its someone doing it to you, its more likely some lil hiccup along the connection. happened to me a couple times nonstop and both times it stopped when phone lines were replaced and went back to just doing it occasionally.

you didnt answer whether you were losing connection to your isp completely or just to IRC so its hard to suggest things to check. You can read about this error, 10054, at this web page Its a tough one to pin down the reason for since it could be so many things.
Check modem, cable/phone line connections/wires
Slow down/stop at isp or anywhere in between
Someone could be doing it to you
Does this only happen when you are dccing? Maybe:
-router firmware
-speed patches
-isp interference as a result of "bandwidth hogging"

There really isnt anything you can do about the downloads if you get disconnected either way. Have you considered using mIRC for chatting and find another way to get whatever it is you are downloading?
