I use mIRC to chat with people who play the game ARC since the lobby for our game seems to not work anymore, heh. Anyways, I connect to irc.funnet.org and have been doing so for some time. Earlier today, in our main chat I must've slipped and I said something along the lines of 'xbox360, brand new 190.' The chat was dead and I said it once and poof, I was g-lined!? I never new anything about something called an 'Ircop' this is my first encounter. I think it was just a misunderstanding, mistaking me for a bot, but I am a normal user on that server under the name 'noxide' and would appreciate any help I could get since I can't log in there anymore. Thanks

you need to contact the irc net involved not mirc.

What you have done is like getting banned from driving your Ford Pickup truck in New York becuase your a yahoo driver.
So you have rung up Ford Motors and said I cant drive my ford now.
Its just not on them to fix it.

Then why are ircops running around g-lining people for the most ridiculous reasons? Was this ircop that much of an airhead that he didn't notice I was also voiced in the channel, that should've been a sure sign I was a normal user. It sounds like someone just a bit too power hungry, running around the mIRC chats banning on site. I had never done anything before and what I did was nothing. I was chatting with members of my community when some ircop makes everything much more difficult.

IRC isn't fair I'm afraid. It's not so much "mIRC chats", mIRC just displays IRC for you, it isn't the actual chat rooms or servers.

It's possible that the IRCop who g-lined you was breaking network policy by doing so - but either way, you need to bring up any complaints with the network owners or other ircops. But many IRC networks don't take IRC so seriously, and may just laugh at you. Hence why some people believe it "safer" to hang out on the big networks where you're less likely to have opers /kill or ban you for sneezing the wrong way.

Regards,

Mentality/Chris

Also have to remember that connecting to any network/server is not a right but a privilege. Have you checked the networks terms of conditions on their website? And as there are thousands of networks out there you can always vote with your feet if you dont like the way the network is run.
