I am running XP Pro, with mIRC 603, and my dropdown combo boxes were going just fine, until a friend complained that the dropdown boxes weren't opening.

We spent an hour on the problem; using echo lines we found out that the values were correctly in the control, and the size wasn't being restricted... he was using the exact same code that worked for me.

He's running 98SE. So I booted up a copy of 98se in my virtual comp, and guess what..... apparently the control mIRC 603 uses for dropdown boxes isn't very friendly in 98se.....

make sure the height of the combo box is large enough, the height is the representation of how far it should drop

so do like: combo 1, 5 5 45 40, size drop

Nope; said: "and the size wasn't being restricted"

Removing the 'size' parameter removes restrictions on the height.

Tested with and without that, and it has a height of 22 anyway. So if it were working, he'd be seeing 22 pixels of text or white space, as it is, there is nothing.

Go ahead and see for yourself smile

.... and then I figure out that removing the 'size' parameter does NOT work on Win98.

Well at least I found out the problem..
And it is still a bug that lack the combo doesn't take on a default size...

Tx
