Most of the common dialogs that mIRC uses are quite old and alot less functional than the newer versions (the common dialogs are what open when you are asked to browse for a file/folder.)

I remember reading this suggestion but it was a long time ago so I posted it again. There's also another suggestion:

In the script editor (for example - I haven't check if this happens anywhere else) when you click on the Load... menu and the common dialog opens the "Files of type:" dropdown is filled with a lot of unneccessary entries (I don't think many people are going to load images or word document files into remote!), "Scripts (*.ini, *.mrc)" and "All Files (*.*)" will do.

If the 'common dialogs' can be updated, then I also think they should be updated. I don't know if mIRC uses its own dialog (that looks like windows default from 98), or one that is provided by windows itself. If it is a custom dialog for mIRC, then it may not be possible to upgrade to winXP style otherwise it may not be compatible with win98, etc. I don't think this is really necessary specifically for loading remotes/aliases/etc because they are usually in the mIRC dir anyway, but it would be helpful for using in scripts that are used to choose any type of file from any location.

It only takes a small check to determine the operating system. mIRC could simply open the newer dialog for XP users and the older dialog for 98 users (should 98 users not be able to use the newer common dialogs.)

I review scripts on a couple of websites and they go to my documents\my downloads\ so I rarely have to load scripts from the mIRC directory. The "My Documents" button on the newer common dialog would make this a lot less tiresome.
