I have a W98 computer that has 16 installations of mIRC that show up every time the computer is started up. Using add/remove from the ctrol panel does not remove the program. Have run SpyBot and install Norton anti virus, they do not detect any problems. The computer always starts up with 16 copies of the program.
How can I eliminate at least 15 of them?

Yeah, like this mIRC crap that doesn't show up in Add/Remove, or Startup Control Panel or anywhere else!

I realize it was probably installed by a Virus or a Trojan, but if it was my computer mIRC would NEVER have been installed in the first place -I keep my AV and other security programs up to date and running.

I looked at mIRC before and said to myself, "NOT ON MY COMPUTER!"

BTW : There was only one instance on the PC I am working on. The Startups program is the only one that even showed mIRC, and yes it did remove it!

Thank you, that was the only reason I joined this message board to begin with!

Toodles!

mIRC doesn't need to show up in your add/remove program section... Just put it in the root directory of C: (so that it reads as C:\mIRC) and Bob's your uncle. If you want to uninstall it - right click on the folder and say delete... -gonners-

Anyhow, someone had to install mIRC 16 times - now who could that've been?!

Kind Regards,
