Hey there... and welcome to the wonderful world of IRC! (couldn't sound any more cliche'd, huh?)... as many around here will be happy to inform you (and despite my lack of knowledge of the English language, since I had to look up the word "scrim" several times), if you're looking for a specific channel, once you connect to a server -i.e. Undernet-, you can run a "search" for channels using the command /list insertkeywordforthechannelhere, as in /list counter... or you can also run a more general search by going to Search IRC...
Hope I've been helpful
smile

It is a popular term used amongst gamers. A lot of people (especially those on Quakenet or GameSurge) use IRC channels to set up online game battles between clans. When the clans fight, it is called a "scrim".

Unfortunately, many (particularly new) people in the gaming community think that IRC (or 'mIRC') is purely invented for the sake of scrimmages, therefore, many people use the word expecting everyone else to understand what they mean.

Hamilton: You can use the resources in this thread for help finding a channel.

Regards,

Mentality/Chris

if i'm not mistaken, "skirmish" and "scrimmage" are two different words, though with similar meanings... btw, they're both nouns smile)

This post is not mIRC-related... BUT it's under the General Discussion thread laugh

Reminds me a bit of the term "scrum" in Rugby.. but if there's an actual fight they call it a melee (I think there needs to be a certain number of people involve for that, at least it does in aussie rules footy)

How often do you ever see a rugby match fight that doesnt envolve 2/3rds of both teams? smile
