I won't say that it's not possible to use mIRC there because nothing is impossible, however I know that their service was designed primarily as a webchat service. Due to the fact that their website does not contain instructions to join their service using an IRC client indicates that they do not want people doing so. If they don't provide help then no-one else is going to.

The main idea is that yahoo want's the people to use their messenger... they make ex3's that make the chat easy and many people use their service... and.... yahoo is not only a search engine.... it an marketing system too.... so they dont want other connections to their chat.... i've tryed to connect many times with many programes to their servers (useing same host and port that yahoo messenger connects to) .. but their firewall disconects me.... it isnt imposible but its out of the law .... if u connect to their server with other program (not YM) you automaticly become a hacker who's breaking their system.... you'd better dont try...... i havent tryed to disasembly the messenger and to understand how does it work... but i like it (except the fact that it uses a lot of memory)... just use it or not.... dont try connect another way...

Respect ! ! !

Just for the record, it is neither illegal or hacking to connect to a server using third party software. Now, if you edited the original software or disassembled it to learn the protocol then you might be breaking the law in some countries, but simply learning a protocol by observation and creating a new peice of software that implements it is not illegal.

Spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and stupid comments are intentional.

Agreed. For example, Trillian uses the Yahoo network just fine (as well as the AIM/MSN/ICQ networks). You just need to know what information to send when connecting.

However, I doubt anyone here wants to spend as much time as would be necessary to figure out how to do it from within mIRC. Use mIRC for IRC and use Yahoo IM for IM.

I have a feeling that if you can be kicked off when using Yahoo, that you can when using mIRC as well. Just like using mIRC or mIRC scripting can't prevent you from being kicked out of a channel on IRC if you don't have ops or channel services.

Anyhow, if people act like that, it's time to use a better IM protocol. I never liked YIM, anyhow. laugh
