I have been trying repeatedly to connect to different ircs on mIRC but i am getting an Unalbe to connect error each time can anyone halp

Everything you need to know...

If you're at work/college/etc, you could be blocked by them. We can't help you if that's the case. If not, then it could be your router/modem/firewall blocking the ports. Or, it can be a number of other things, all discussed in that topic.

I am at school, but have never had any problem with being able to connect to mirc in the past.

Ask your IT/IS people. They could have started blocking IRC due to abuse (people sending and downloading files or whatever). Colleges/Universities change their policies on what they allow all the time. Some will let students do almost anything most of the time and then block almost everything (IM/IRC/FTP/etc) during exam times. Others change their policy whenever a particular program is being used for abuse and is getting out of hand. The only way to know for sure is to ask them.
