start mIRC.exe /background

but give it a paramater for mIRC that it is in background or windows?

mIRC doesn't run 'in the background', it's a chat application. If you're not wanting to chat, don't log on. Simple!

The tray should more than suffice, it's hardly "in your face". If you're a windows XP user you can also right click the taskbar go to 'Properties' and choose which icons to 'always hide'.

Regards,

Mentality/Chris
