Changing the version reply via scripting doesn't break the license agreement but it is highly frowned upon and many places will ban you for it. I doubt you will get help with changing it here.

You can see the license agreement by typing /help license agreement

As a note, I believe that mIRC 6.16 no longer allows changing it via scripts (you can still add to it). I could be wrong, but I seem to remember someone here saying that... DaveC, maybe?

You've not been able to completely change the version reply for a very long time.

2nd May 1995, v3.2 released:
6. Now cannot prevent the standard ctcp version reply being given.

Really? I thought I've seen this done as recent as the 6.1x versions. Maybe I'm just wrong. smile

There are methods to evade it, which is why you've quite possibly seen it done. As tidy said though, it's seen as very lame, and I know several channels which will ban lame scripts (usually Turkish by the way), which delete/change the version reply.
