hi,i know that my nick will get deregistered if i don't auth it for 1 month.so i auth it daily.however,i leave irc after authing my nick without entering my channel as i used this is due to the fact that i have other stuff to do and can't irc as often as before. just today.i decided to revisit my channel only to find that Q had gone???i thought as long as i auth my nick regularly my channel will still be intact?btw other channe access that i have are still present.i'm just wondering how come my channel had been deregistered.i'm pretty sure no one knows my nick password...

Without knowing what network you're on it's difficult to help. Go to one of the help/services channels on your network and ask there, they'll be able to give you more information. If a channel is empty for a certain amount of time (determined by the network) the registration will drop. It's probably wise to have a different password for your channel to what you use for your nick too.

You would be better off asking in #help (presuming you're on Quakenet), this is the mIRC help board (i.e. it has nothing to do with Quakenet or any other network)...

Has the channel be unused for longtime? The Q-bot is programmed to leave channels that have been empty for a long period of time.

Like nick names irc services drop channels that have been inactive or not used and identified to for a certain amount of time. Usually, with most services channels get a shorter inactive period than nicks do. If the channel founder or someone on the channel access list (depending what services the network you go to use) does not go into the channel and get op'ed (using the channel) after a certain amount of time the channel will get dropped. On the other hand, if someone without access goes into the channel it doesn't count. So, again someone with access to the channel or the channel founder must use the channel for it not to be dropped.
