Deleting the mirc.ini file isn't going to work, and please don't tell people to do that as it breaks everything else.

For help with the startup password, please see this page. Speak to others who have access to your mIRC, as someone must have set it for it to be popping up.

Does the box say "Mirc password" "Please enter your password" "password:" [entry field] ???

If so then there is a lock password on mirc set from previous installation mostlikely.

Try this, create a text file, and save it as fixthisup.txt, then run REGEDIT and import the file, or just use regedit and change it if u know how.

--- File follows (3 lines) ---
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\mIRC\LockOptions]
@="0,0"

Did (any of) you look at the page I linked to?

The only password box that pops up when you double click mIRC's icon is the one that is set in mIRC options. mIRC does not randomly set this, so either you or someone else with access to your computer set it. The page I linked to explains how to remove it by editing the registry. I would suggest that being the only way you do it.

DaveC, there is an 'Edit' link to edit your posts smile

Yeah i did, its wrong. Thats why i gave the reg patch.

Oh i showed the different methods of correcting it becuase, the second one erases the key, and some people dont like that, also regedit can be blocked from allowing key deletions, how i dont know, i just know it can aka its happened to me frown (took two days to figure out what was wrong on that one!)
