One thing that can sometimes help is to change the 'System Font'
Start > Control Panel > [Appearance]
I dont call it bug, different fonts have different characters...
eg. the much discussed chr 160 is not whitespace for all fonts.
I had once characters like those, cant remember anymore what font it was... (I actually like it more then the 'standard' boxes, (I can see what is what, because bold, color, underline, etc are all different characters with that font
