You need to explain exactly what error messages you're getting, otherwise it's most impossible to help you. Please make sure you've read the sticky threads at the top of this forum before posting though, they contain lots of info!

What do you mean you connected as an 'Advanced User'? What request to identify yourself were you expecting?

Regards,

When you launch mirc you get an automatic window that opens, the MIRC options window. This is where you connect to the server. When I select the server the the karaoke realm window opens and the window appears where it asks you to identify yourself. This is where you put in your password to get recognized. Until you do that you cannot get onto the #karaoke-realm channel. There has always been a prompt in that window asking you to identify yourself. Now there is only a blinking cursor. Is this enough info?

mIRC doesn't open any sort of identification request windows, so I assume you were/are running a script of some description.

Perhaps a few pastes of the messages you're receiving in your mIRC window might help, or speaking to the ops of that channel and see if they can shed some light?

Are you talking about a password (key) for the channel?

Just type /join #karaoke-realm password.

Certain channels require you to register your nickname before you can enter.
This is done through the irc service NickServ. Detailed information can be obtained using: /msg nickserv help commands

- Register your nickname:
/msg nickserv register YourSecretPassword
- Identify yourself as the owner of the nickname:
/msg nickserv identify YourSecretPassword
- Check if the user of nickname is recognized as the owner of the nickname:
/msg nickserv status TargetNickname
- responses: 0 = not online or registered, 1 = not identified, 3 = identified

HTH

Cheers!

When you message someone, you need to message an op (i.e. specify an op's nickname). Just messaging yourself (/msg finman) means the message won't go anywhere except to....you. So if an op's nickname is 'Arnie' then you would use /msg Arnie your message here.

As LaoziSailor said, some networks allow nickname registration. It's quite possible that not all the commands they pointed out will work - NickServ can differ from network to network. If you have a registered nickname already then you need to identify to your nickname before joining that channel.
The best thing for Services help is to ask in their #Help channel, using /join #help.

Sorry. I should have specified to use the Op's nick, not your own.
