Can anything be done about name grabbing BOTs ??
This is the only information I can fine of them :
"-edit- bots -edit- best collector bot on IRC most sensitive "watch for" list most aggressive registration/battle/log bot any IRC has seen "when you don't have time to be on-line to register nics yourself" over 1 million successful registrations since Jan 1997 "The Unstopable edit-Bot" get a username & p/w to log to my palmtop write -edit- and then call -edit- "

Realistically, the only thing that can be done is to keep your name(s)/nick(s) active and registered to you through whichever nick registration service the server(s) that you are on. If you don't let it expire, then the name/nick grabber bots can't grab them.

People grow quite attached to their nicknames when they've been using them on the same IRC network for years and years. Naturally, they care about keeping that, and adding a '2' or a hyphen on to the end of your nickname just doesn't cut it.

AB3, there is little you can do if you don't use a network that has services such as NickServ to keep your nickname. On most other IRC networks only usernames (or nothing) is able to be registered, so nicknames are up for grabs.

I've removed some info from your post so others cannot take advantage of such a "service". Also be aware it hasn't got anything to do with mIRC, just another lamer that we have to put up with smirk
