Hey there... I was thinking that an Abort command to /list will be just great. Some huge networks (such as EFnet) have thousands of channels and it has 3 (or more) disadvantages when using the /list command:

  • 1. The "Channels" window is getting flooded with hundreds of channels and it sticks mIRC. Also, it takes a big amount of the bandwidth.
    2. You are getting disconnected with "Excess Flood".
    3. There is no abort command.

Please consider adding this feature in the next versions of mIRC.

Just tried that and got this:
Quote:

8:19p    Bad list syntax, type /QUOTE HELP LIST

After typing /QUOTE HELP LIST i just got a list of available raw commands from the server.

If the server's IRCd doesn't support a command to stop /list then there's really very little mIRC can do. Yes, mIRC could create a client-side method of stopping the names appearing in the Channels window, however you'd still be using the same bandwidth as before and be just as likely to receive the 'Excess flood' disconnect message.
