Forums mIRC Help Question about posting.......

I have a scripting question about an addon i found at a popular addon site, but since i didnt write the thing i would like some feedback on whether or not to post the questions.
Its a clean little clone script and its available for download . I really like the thing but its basic and i want to incorporate some things to it.... so i guess its a moral delima.
I tried finding the author and he seems to be MIA since 2000.
So what do i do.... be an *Place Bad Word Here* and post the thing with the questions....
Note: the questions are to do with what i want to add on to it , not the script itself , but to get the idea of my problem i fear i might have to post the whole thing.

I shouldn't see it being a problem, unless they specifically said they don't want the code modified. I always found looking at others code and see how the code came together and did what it did by modifying little parts to see what happens.

Even if the author said they didn't want it modified, you could tell us otherwise and we'd help.

These days, authors that don't want their code modified usually put On SockOpen Events in their code to connect to the IRC server they are known on and tell them you're using their stuff.

Just has a line in the readme file saying this cant be used without the authors permission bla bla bla .... but like i said , its available from a common download site. And yeah i know i could have slipped it by any number of people , but i wouldnt want to take credit for anything or exploit someone elses work.
( Yeah i tweak almost everything i download.... i was the kid who took his toys apart too )

If it said this can't be used without the authors permission it shouldn't be available for download lol. Just use the code, it isn't going to hurt anyone.

Seems reasonable... ill do my best to avoid posting all of it, and if it comes to it and someone gets in a bind about it the mods can just edit the thing.
