How can I find out someone's ip address on IRC?

For instance, if the person is online and his ip is 123.456.678.910-nsw.tpgi.com.au?

/dns <nick>

or get them to send you a dcc chat request wink

so if I /dns <nickname>, will the person know?

and I can't possibly dcc chat the person :P

The person on the other end will not be aware that you have used the DNS command on them.

Sometimes the hostname will not resolve though.
