I cant download IRC to begin with. I keep getting an error msg that says, Internet Explorer was unable to open the Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Can anyone help?

Do you get this error when only trying to download mIRC? What version of IE are you using? What version of Windows? Do you get this error with websites and downloads? Do you get this error with other downloads? Does it only happen with certain extensions?

I think you get the idea, you need to supply a little more information to properly diagnos the problem.

From TheGame: try downloading from here (to which you replied you did)

From Poppy: Did you try downloading from the location nearest to yourself? Are you using any firewall who's settings might need to be adjusted before you can download anything?

To answer your questions: Actually I just tried downloading IE 6 and got the exact same error message, im using IE 5.0 right now im pretty sure, using windows xp, and it gave me the same message regardless of where i tried to download it from. ive tried downloading it with norton disabled, with my firewall disabled, and with both disabled at the same time, and none of the instances changed anything. Thanx in advance for your time.

Win XP comes with IE6 preinstalled.

This is the general routine to follow (from my view)

1. Install Windows. (Activate if needed)
2. Go straight to MS Update and get every service pack and update that is available.
3. Install and configure your applications. (Office, mIRC, etc)
4. Install Firewall if you don't like the Win XP one.
5. Install Anti-virus software. If you are in doubt, install first and scan the downloaded files but make sure you turn off the scanner when installing to aide system stability.

With a bit of luck mIRC and IE6 should then work.

Hey Bfox

Need some Informatics, you using “Internet Explorer” as your Default browser? Have you installed any other browsers in the past, and what Microsoft Windows you using, and what’s your Connection Type?
