With mIRC, you can open SSL connections only if you install some librarys I think, as it's not included in mIRC. BTW, there's always the good old issue using wininit.dll from Windows, which one you can control using com objects, like I did for my old version of my MSN Messenger for mIRC which used SSL authentication to Passport.NET
This old tricky way isn't the best as it's a lot more complicated... I suggest you try the mIRC's one.
