I don't know how these XDCC ads and personal message spam seem to be gettting around the "strip codes from incoming messages" feature in mIRC. Some channels I go to run these ads and use bright colors that are blinding and I can't filter them out. Hopefully this option can be tweaked to block all of this colored text.

Thanks,

I joined a couple of XDCC channels and the stripping option worked for me.

Perhaps you have the box checked saying 'Only if the number of codes exceeds: [number]'? Make sure that box is unchecked or make the number much lower. Also make sure that the box 'color' is checked and that you have no interfering scripts (/!remote off).

Of course, the other alternative is not to join XDCC channels smirk

Maybe it is a script conflict. I am gonna check it out more deeply.

Regarding the XDCC channel comments here in this thread - I am not going to avoid a channel because it has XDCCs. It is true that if a channel is one of those XDCC leech channels it makes no sense to go there to just block the ads, but a channel with regular chatting will occasionally have a few running and the colors are annoying when they appear in the middle of a conversation.

So it is the function of blocking colored text of XDCC ads that I am concerned with, that's all.

Thanks,

Off the top of my head, im pretty sure if your stripping codes they are stripped from events as well, so a script isnt going to get anything different from you, so couldnt display it in color. Unless its pulling it from Debug which is pretty unlkely.

Actually, the events such as Join, Part, Quit, Topic, Ban, Kick, etc. are not stripped of their color. I think it is just regular channel chat text or ads from scripts.

These particular XDCC ads seem to be the exception. That is what seemed strange to me. I thought at first that maybe there is some sort of code in the text or something stated in the text itself that is bypassing the mIRC color filter. That is just a wild guess though.

Thanks for the feedback.

This was a script related issue, my apologies.

Thanks for the input anyhow.
