It would be cool if mirc supported smilie gifs.. and u can download "smilie packs" with like 100+ smilies and alt-s would bring up a menu with them all and there be things like how colon and a close brace would show a  thatd be real neat

If it was added though, you wouldn't even know that it existed, because it would more than likely be turned off by default. It would be nothing more than another checkbox in ALT+O -> IRC. But to those people who like emoticons, it might add to there IRC experience, and encourage them to register mIRC, and not another client.

I turn off emoticons in every program I have ;-]

Personally I wouldn't want my chat cluttered up with smileys. I don't even like colours that much, it makes the screen look too 'busy'. But I think it's a personal choice, and if it's set by default to 'off' it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference to me whether it's there or not, cos I wouldn't use it. Different on forums and instant messengers though, and lol theRat.

Would have to agree, I strip all colors and wouldn't like emoticons on by default, but if they were an option you could turn on and off, I think many many people would enjoy them.

This would be nice to have.
Should work like setting colors and bold. Can be used for other things than smilies.
Maybe also a link to the pic if you dont have it on your disk.
