it seems that i can't enter a dcc chat session
when i try to enter it opens a new window and i wait and it says:
Acknowledging chat request...
-
Unable to connect
-
DCC session closed

Are you able to DCC send a file to someone? Not being able to DCC chat generally means you also cannot DCC send - which means it's a good idea to check out the Can't DCC Send sticky thread and follow the advice given there.

To reiterate the general guide in that thread, if you have a firewall or router, then you need to forward ports in them and then set the same port range in ALT+O > Connect > Options > [Advanced...]. Make sure you try to DCC chat 2+ people to make sure it's not the receiver having issues (which is unlikely but possible).

It's not it? What is 'it'? Are you telling me you've read and followed the instructions in all 6 pages of that thread in (a maximum of) 12 minutes?

You need to give more details on your set-up. What is your Operating System? (Windows 98/2K/XP/ME/etc.) Do you have a firewall? A router? Are you on a network? What connection to the Internet do you have? Are you DCC Chatting a human or some sort of bot? What have you tried to resolve this issue so far?
