And you could not get around this situation using $usermodes? For example I connect to a network and having for example a check of the mIRC Favorites dialog activates mIRC only executing the autojoin -n command if the identifier $usermodes returns the mode +r. I think this mode is the most common in all networks and would not depend on nickserv.
