The code you listed behaves exactly the same way in 6.35. FYI this behaviour is only reproduceable when the Remote Editor is not being shown on the desktop. But again, I can also reproduce this behaviour in 6.35, so this behaviour has been around for a while.
Why are you using the 'u' switch, exactly? Is your goal to make the $input modal?
