When I press PAUSE on my iPod, it pauses the track at it's current location. it does not silence the output as it continues playing. That's known as MUTE.
mIRC's own /splay command follows this behavior.
* /SPLAY PAUSE
* /SPLAY RESUME
Pause means to suspend operation. If you can find any other definition of "PAUSE" that contradicts this, please show us this definition.
