I, too, used MSL for offline stuff more then once, one time in particular, for work.
It's easy, simple, small, quick...just a snippet and you have what you need.
I would benefit a hell of a lot from a standalone.

Also, if you don't like what you see, don't read it.
No one's forcing you.
