Confirmed.

This involves the same bug I found.

Workaround:
Disable SJIS/JIS on the sending client. That fixed your problem for me.

Edit:
The box (undisplayable character) usually means your font does not support the language's script page (the term used in mIRC) or character set (the term used in Windows Character Map)--both mean the same thing. Check which scripts (character sets) your font includes here or in Windows Character Map. It seems you need one containing Central European (which contains a subset of "ISO 8859-2" or "Latin Extended-A").
