while trying to run mIRC on my computer (which used to work fine before the most recent version) - I just recently tried to install mIRC again, and it works fine, but then the icon shows as no icon, and when I try to run it, I get the error:

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

if it helps, my zone alarm client detects it as not-a-virus client, but even if i don't quarantine, and ignore it, it still doesn't open. if i do quarantine it, it just deletes the file and i can't open it at all.

any help?

This has been reported recently a few times in this forum, like here.

Disable your anti virus outright. Re*DOWNLOAD* and Reinstall mIRC with the AV disabled. Check if the problem still occurs. As mentioned in the other posts, there is little possibility that this can be the fault of mIRC, since it cannot be responsible for errors before its even executed.. your Windows installation may be broken. What OS is this on?
