The following error will incorrectly show up:

* /ban: must be an op on #channel

/ban errors out (with the message above) if the user is trying to set a ban and he is not +o in a channel even though if the user is +h or +a (without +o) he should certainly be able set +b with no issues
Hum, in my test +a doesn't let you ban users if you're not +o
On which IRC network is this happening? In any case, I have changed /ban for the next version to allow more channel user modes to use it.
on a network like irc.swiftirc.net

you can be +a (without +o) and set +b
you can be +h and set +b

in network that supports ownership of channels (As with the network I stated above) +q without +a or +o can still set +b as well
As Khaled stated, he's already made it less strict in who can use /ban. Also, +a isn't always admin and may not be able to use /ban depending on the network. It's not a standard level. Not sure if Khaled will put it in anyhow or not, but just wanted to make you aware of that. Also, I believe +h is limited in their /ban ability, but I could be wrong there.
Would it be a bad idea to remove the check altogether on /ban? It sort of makes sense to me to allow the server to give you the error message instead of mIRC.

Thats what I was thinking.
However this "feature" was added because of this (3rd post): https://forums.mirc.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Board=8&Number=226150
