so, you want to launch a new copy of mIRC every 5 minutes if you have an internet connection?

or do you mean you want to check and see if mIRC is not connected, and a connection to the internet is available, to connect mIRC?

what site do you want to flood with your connection every 5 minutes that is being used to check and see if you are online to the internet?

It won't flood any site if there is no connection.

To connect mIRC if connection to the internet is available.
Therefore, my preference website is www.google.com

Im gussing that you know an easy way to check the modem port and lan port to see what the status is.

No I don't, just trying to connect to a host and failing
shows the status of your connection right there. If
he connects to the host, he can then connect to IRC
and stop the timer that polls the host every 5 minutes.
How can you flood a host with connections if you have
no wan connection?

I personally wouldn't do this, I would ...

options > connect > options
select 'reconnect on disconnection'

options > connect > options > retry button
select 'Enable connect retry'
enter 9999 for 'Retry connection'
set 'Retry delay' for whatever he wants (5mins = 300secs)
