Zoinks! </shaggy>
I hate it when people fall off the forum without even a goodbye.

. . .

Think I could have her post count? grin

We all take time away now and then. I spent a whole week and a half away from all forums a while back. Hard to believe ay.

Speaking of taking breaks Hammer must have fallen off the planet or else at the Republic of Jose Cuervo enjoying himself grin
Posted By: Watchdog Re: Nimue -- Where are you? - 27/06/03 10:28 PM
He 'vanished' just before the invasion of Iraq. Maybe he is in the army and got called up. If so, hope he made it back.
Posted By: The_Game Re: Nimue -- Where are you? - 27/06/03 10:29 PM
Never thought about that....If so, I hope the same as well....

Now that I see some of the moderators have left, I would suggest Watchdog for mod hehe laugh Would be super to see him as mod he is old in here and he knows lotsa things smile
Posted By: pheonix Re: Nimue -- Where are you? - 28/06/03 02:42 PM
watchdog would be a good moderator, another reason coz hes not biased smile

General reply:
Just because you dont see some moderators posting replies, it doesnt mean they have left and arent reading the posts :รพ
I read all the posts, but i certainly dont reply to every one of them. why reply if a question has been answered fully and accurately

Consider that some may prefer to moderate only, some may prefer to spend their time testing complaints instead of replying to "why cant i connect", some may get busy with other things for a period of time, and some of us simply have more available time. Of course, anyone who helps anywhere for even a short time knows that all helpers everywhere occasionally need a break from what can at times seem like constant rudeness/laziness/bickering/same old questions. If you dont take that break when you need it for whatever reason, the ppl asking questions bear the brunt of your attitude.

Moderators are a team with the same goals: help the users asking questions, keep this forum on target, and help keep mIRC the great chat client it is. We do this as a team , its not an individual posting numbers competition nor how often you reply to questions or do something visible to all the posters.

Our intent was never for only moderators to answer questions, we want this to be a place where anyone with the knowledge and desire to help could do so. We have a lot of great ppl who spend considerable amounts of time giving high quality help (yes, Watchdog is one of those smile ) and we love seeing so many of you wanting to help others. Just because someone isnt a moderator doesnt mean they arent appreciated for their contributions by us all, admins/moderators/users alike.

I'd like to take the opportunity to say i was touched by your concern for Hammer's wellbeing! ( thpffft to all the ppl who think IRC is only the negative they see on the news) He's alive and well, and keeping me supplied with peanutbutter cookies, even tho not seen around and about as often. *kiss on the nose and a dr pepper to Hammer*
*ponder*
ah what the heck... /me goes totally out of character and hands out cookies(choc chip tho, good thing Karen baked yesterday and forgot to lock up the kitchen) to all the moderators and great helpers!

watchdog? UN-biased?

The world has gone topsy turvy!
Posted By: Watchdog Re: Nimue -- Where are you? - 29/06/03 07:29 AM
That's right, unbiased.

A little opinionated at times but never biased.

This discussion has nothing to do with Nimue. . .

YOU GUYS DONT EVEN CARE!!! mad frown frown
Posted By: Watchdog Re: Nimue -- Where are you? - 30/06/03 08:51 AM
It's not a matter of caring or not, it's a matter of not knowing. Personally, I do not have the benefit of contact details so therefore I cannot help.

Why don't you find out what server she chats on and then ask in her channel?
Posted By: Raccoon Re: Nimue -- Where are you? - 30/06/03 02:49 PM
Sorry, I'm just being dramatic. smirk

NIMMMMUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEE!
Posted By: The_Game Re: Nimue -- Where are you? - 30/06/03 08:46 PM
You? Dramatic? Naaaaah! Anyways, I guess i'm at fault for this thread to steer away from your original question, to ask about other AWOL members of this board. My bad. Anyways, had I the means of contacting Nimue, I would have probably helped ya out, but I don't sorry.
Posted By: Raccoon Re: Nimue -- Where are you? - 02/07/03 06:38 PM
Looking at her mircscripts.org profile, I noticed that she's also been inactive there for 30 days, today.

SHE FORGOT ABOUT US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Posted By: Watchdog Re: Nimue -- Where are you? - 02/07/03 07:55 PM
That doesn't mean much I haven't been there for almost that long myself and when I do it's just for a look around. They are too petty there so I usually don't waste my time. I think my last post there was on the 31st May.
Posted By: Raccoon Re: Nimue -- Where are you? - 02/07/03 08:51 PM
No, I know it doesn't mean much for that site itself, but that's almost exactly the time she stopped visiting us, which was 31 days ago. I also noticed that her Avatar is now broken. I just started this thread because it seems very unusual for someone as active on these boards as Nimue to simply drop off the planet without a mention. The 3 days prior to her leaving, she was averaging 15 to 30 posts a day.

Maybe her head exploded from all the questions. shocked

(wonders if a moderator could send an email if someone goes AWOL for so long, just to harass them and let them know we miss 'em)
Posted By: The_Game Re: Nimue -- Where are you? - 03/07/03 12:38 AM
Maybe she decided to take a well-needed break...Averaging 15-30 posts a day would probably drive someones head to explode....lol...Then again, there are also the possibilities that her net service is down, or her personal confuser decided not to cooperate. (yeah thanks bill)...but i'm guessin its a break
Posted By: ParaBrat Re: Nimue -- Where are you? - 03/07/03 07:58 AM
One of the down sides of IRC is that ppl you are used to seeing can suddenly go amongst the missing and leave others wondering if they are ok and whats going on. In many cases, we cant do anything to find the answer to our concerns. are they just busy elsewhere? taking a break? puter down? gotten overrun with IRL? sucked into gameland? (i know several ppl i would like to kidnap and slap in a D2 addiction recovery clinic so i can see them again on a regular basis mad) IRL its kinda hard to disappear totally off the face of the earth, but the nature of IRC makes that all too easy to do, as we all know.

While i can appreciate your concern, i cant suggest anything but the obvious (which you already know). As a moderator, i dont think it would be right for me to send anyone an email if they didnt put an email addy for the world to see. To me, that would be an invasion of their privacy, even tho done with the best of intentions. Just as with the email list ppl sign up on to get notice of new releases, we would not use that list for anything else, only to notify of new releases.

Someone may have already passed your concerns along to her, but not be at liberty to comment. All we can do is hope she is ok and comes back soon.
Posted By: Raccoon Re: Nimue -- Where are you? - 07/08/03 07:25 AM
Oh well. It's been 2 months today, and Nimue is still MIA. I guess it's time to call off the search party and retire my avatar.

I really hate it when people disappear like this, without warning or even a hint of reason... suggesting bad things must have happened. For this reason I am putting all my effort back into a webproject I started a while ago, idied.com, a site which will allow those who have passed away to send emails from beyond the grave. (which is all I'm going to say about it here)

I can only hope I am wrong, and egerly await the next release of mIRC to see if she pops up again. Until then.

her avatar now being an x isnt a good sign either frown
Posted By: Watchdog Re: Nimue -- Where are you? - 08/08/03 04:32 AM
People leave for a variety of reasons, it doesn't mean they've died. Look at Hammer, he left and then came back. That's not to say all will come back. I've done this myself - I just vanished (off the net, not in real life) and decided after a few months to make my presence felt again. In Australia it's called 'going walkabout'. People suddenly do something else because they can, no need for a reason. Some liked the idea that I came back and some didn't - ahhh well, ya get that at times. grin
