Hello guys,

There is some network -edit- that some chans had mIRC codes in the topics, like:

::: Topic: #Channel1: ...Registro do mIRC: /registration Login: #channel1 Code: 6437-xxxxx

::: Topic: #Channel2 ... REGISTRE SEU MIRC: #channel2 / 9204-xxxxx ...

What the mIRC Staff can do about this? The email of the network admin is -edit- , maybe Tjerk/Khaled can talk him about this. smile

This is only a warn. I think this is very bad.

Regards.

In theory, Khaled & co. could prosecute most of these people who use mIRC illegally via the use of keygens or assorted means by which it gets registered for them.

However, in reality, it takes to much time and effort to do such a thing, due to politics basically, and such Acts as the Data Protection (UK) and probably a few laws in America, that stop software creators from tracking who and where, their software is being used, legally or illegally, so 99% of the time, nothing is done.

You can however try emailing Khaled directly.

Eamonn.

As wrong as it may be, the last thing you should do is stress out over it. Their activity doesn't affect you ability to enjoy your favourite chat programme. Do your thing and let them do theirs. If they are doing bad things then justice will catch up at one stage or another.

Try 100% of the time. Using a keygen is a victimless crime.

" Using a keygen is a victimless crime. "

Rubbish. This activity deprives the author(s) of income. Thus it has a victim. You might think your $10 doesn't have a big effect, but 1000 ppl doing this activity deprives the author(s) of $10,000. This is a lot of money!

Then there is the loss of reputation when the person distibuting the program (or the key) does not and cannot provide a level of support. To cut a long argument short - many ppl will think that where they got the key or program from is responsible for providing support. The "pirate" doesn't provide support so the users will start badmouthing the program.

So the next time you think that it won't matter if you indulge in a bit of piracy - think again. Attitudes like that (quoted originally) cause a great deal of pain for the rest of us - in higher fees, proof of owneership etc etc (I have to find my MS Office CD everytime I do an upgrade - thanks to pirates).

Cheers,

AJD

And the worst thing:
This network is in the servers.ini.
mIRC helps them with this and they let this thing happen.

Really bad
